The 2017 Flinders Island Running Festival is coming soon! The event has been booked for the 1st to 3rd September 2017. Flinders Island Aviation Services has already taken some enquiries from runners wishing to head to the island for the event, and we would love to hear from any others wishing to travel. We have a number of aircraft available, and are more than capable of assisting with your travel requirements for the event.
Some more information about the event, from the event website at http://www.flindersislandrunning.org:
The Flinders Running Festival is all about getting out and having fun. It started in 2007 as a community fun run and health promotion day and has grown every year since. Now we have the 26 km Bendigo Bank Pub2Pub and the 42km Pub2Pub Trail Marathon followed by the FIAAI Flinders 5, a 5 km or 2 km event. Guest speakers who will be speaking during the weekend long event include Nova Peris – an indigenous Australian athlete and former politician, and Dr Peter Reaburn who is a 54-year-old Associate Professor in exercise and sport science at Central Queensland University.
The festival is still very much a community weekend encouraging as many people to participate at any speed, pace or gait they please. For many local families it’s a way of getting together and celebrating Father’s Day. There are no time restrictions or expectations for those who like to take their time but there is plenty of competition for runners who like to test themselves. And of course there is plenty of opportunity for good food, great views and inspiring conversations!
