Each year over 14,000 people in Australia alone are diagnosed with breast cancer, equating to 38 people each day. This is a small figure when compared to the number of people who are affected by breast cancer in Australia through a friend, a work colleague or a family member.

PMT is a group of young women who reside at the University of Tasmania’s largest residential college, Jane Franklin Hall, and who raise funds for various charities within the college and wider community. As young women, they are passionate about assisting and supporting the amazing work of the Breast Cancer Network, whose work could not be possible without groups such as PMT.

Over the past years PMT has held ‘A Touch of Pink’, an annual Gala Dinner at Jane Franklin Hall. Through this event, funds are raised through selling raffle tickets and hosting many other activities throughout the night. This is always a very successful evening, raising over $5000 for each of the past two consecutive years. This year, PMT is holding another raffle and Gala Dinner on the 19th August to raise money for the Breast Cancer Network of Tasmania and aim to raise over $5000. To do this, they need your help.

Flinders Island Aviation Services has proudly supported this year’s Gala Dinner, by providing prizes to the raffle, and we encourage businesses on Flinders Island, as well as individuals to show their support for a worthy cause. Not only is this a chance to help raise money in support of those suffering breast cancer, but it is a chance for us to show what we have to offer on the island. Both in the way of businesses, and generosity.

The PMT would greatly appreciate support or assistance of any kind. If you are able to assist, or would like more information on how you can get involved, you can get in touch with Jett at PMT on 0432 771 503 or email at jettk@utas.edu.au
